Dreaming among the dreamless

Dreaming among the dreamless, New York

A private New York exhibition from 2012 exploring the fragile space between memory and dream. Through ink drawings, modular installations, and illuminated textiles, Dreaming Among the Dreamless introduces the early visual language that would come to define Beba’s meditative, movement-driven practice.

Presented privately in New York in 2012, Dreaming Among the Dreamless marked a defining early moment in Beba’s artistic journey. The exhibition unfolded as a quiet, immersive environment where drawings, light, and spatial installation intertwined to evoke a state of suspended dreaming.

Across the gallery, finely rendered ink figures appeared in mid-motion—floating, bending, balancing—captured in the instant between intention and release. These compositions, housed within a modular sculptural structure, created a rhythm of repetition and variation, echoing the pulse of a dream that cannot be fully recalled. Nearby, a cascading illuminated veil transformed light into a soft, breathing presence, inviting visitors into a contemplative encounter with the unseen.

Through minimal gestures and delicate materials, Beba shaped a world that explores the thresholds between consciousness and absence, motion and stillness, the dreamed and the dreamless. This New York exhibition stands as an intimate milestone, revealing the early emergence of the visual language that continues to define her work today.

During the exibit we were impressed with the presence of Her Excellency Dr Simona-Mirela Miculescu - Ambasador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the UN.
