A dynamic presentation of drawings, modular installations, and color studies showcased at Artexpo New York 2012, where Beba introduced her emerging visual language of fluid line, motion, and balance to an international audience.
At Artexpo New York 2012, Beba presented one of her earliest large-scale public installations—a vibrant and meticulously arranged constellation of drawings, modular frames, and figurative compositions that introduced her visual language to a global audience. Set within the energetic atmosphere of Pier 92, the booth brought together her signature ink figures, early colored works, and sculptural frame structures, offering viewers a comprehensive glimpse into her emerging artistic identity.
The installation emphasized the dynamics of movement. Large-format drawings displayed fluid bodies suspended mid-gesture, while smaller mixed-media and miniature works revealed the precision and restraint of her line. The iconic folding screen, composed of individual framed figures, functioned as a kinetic sculpture—an architectural rhythm of silhouettes that shifted with every passerby.
Color, used sparingly but purposefully, added pulses of intensity to a predominantly minimal aesthetic. The booth’s arrangement, from its vertical hanging sequences to its carefully scaled compositions, highlighted how Beba constructs an ecosystem of motion—figures not merely drawn, but choreographed.
Artexpo 2012 marked a turning point: the moment her work transitioned from intimate private exhibitions to an international platform. The presentation affirmed her unique approach to gesture and form, establishing the foundations of the practice that House of Beba continues to evolve today.
